The largest international counterfeit money intervention in Spain
National Police officers have carried out the largest international intervention of counterfeit 100 euro bills from Bulgaria to date. A total of 580 units that were going to be distributed in our country have been seized in the operation.
In addition, four people have been arrested in Azuqueca de Henares at the time of delivery of the counterfeits.

After several months of investigation, the agents found out that the members of the organization acquired the counterfeits in Bulgaria and that, through couriers, they introduced them into Spain taking advantage of the regular trips that Bulgarian truck drivers made to our country.
Once here, the delivery took place at agreed points and very quickly. Finally, one of these shipments could be intercepted by investigators, managing to detain the two in charge of transport and the receivers of the counterfeit money.
The members of the group had different functions within the structure of the same. Some were in charge of making direct contacts with the producers, others transported the bills and finally the rest took care of distributing the money to the “passers”.
The operation has been carried out by the Investigation Brigade of the Bank of Spain, of the General Police Commissariat, with the collaboration of the Provincial Police Judicial Brigade of Madrid.
