Passive counterfeit bill detectors and active or automatic counterfeit bill detectors
The fake banknote detectors are divided into two groups:
- 1-PASSIVE DETECTORS:
These are detectors that allow you to visualize the most important security elements of each of the denominations of the banknotes (from €5 to €500).
The user must decide whether the banknote is authentic or on the contrary is false. To use this type of detectors the user must have a minimum knowledge of the different security elements of the euro banknotes.
On the smaller value banknotes €5, €10 and €20 they have a holographic band on the front and on the back, an iridescent band.
Most of the security elements, but not all, are identical for the seven denominations.
On the higher value banknotes they have a holographic patch on the front and the back, a figure that changes color.
For both the lower and higher value banknote denominations the properties verifiable with ultraviolet light are the following:
-The paper does not shine
-The fibers embedded in the paper appear in red, blue and green.
-The flag of the European Union shines in green and the stars in orange.
-The signature of the president of the ECB turns green.
-The large stars and small circles on the front of the banknote shine, as do the map and the bridge on the back. - ACTIVE OR AUTOMATIC DETECTORS:
These are the detectors that indicate by themselves if the banknote is authentic or on the contrary is false.
The automatic detectors must be CERTIFIED BY THE BANK OF SPAIN AND THE EUROPEAN CENTRAL BANK to be sure that the indications about the authenticity of the banknote are 100% secure.
In those businesses where the staff does not know the security elements of the banknotes or does not have time to check them, they must use automatic banknote detectors.
They are also deterrents.
