Local Police officers in Mairena del Alcor have arrested three people for distributing counterfeit 20 euro notes in the town's commercial establishments.

At about 13:00 hours last Tuesday, the officers received a phone call informing them that several people had entered a shop and, after making a purchase, had paid with a counterfeit 20 euro note, then left in a red Seat Ibiza, as reported in a statement by the Mairena del Alcor Local Police itself.

When the officers arrived at the shop, they confirmed that the note was fake and, once they had a physical description and the vehicle's license plate, they proceeded to locate the alleged perpetrators.

Shortly afterwards, the vehicle was found parked with the engine running and two people inside, and the officers surprised a third person coming out of a shop after making a purchase.
The police confirmed that in this shop too, he had paid with a counterfeit 20 euro note.

This last person was found to have five counterfeit 20 euro notes in his wallet, and another one of those waiting inside the vehicle was also found to have 35 counterfeit 20 euro notes in his wallet. All the notes had the same serial number.

The modus operandi of the detainees consisted of making low-value purchases in shops, paying for the purchase with a counterfeit 20 euro note, thereby receiving change in the form of legal tender notes and coins. R. R. A, aged 25, A. B. A, aged 27, and C. M. B, aged 35, were arrested and brought before the court
